Smitty's Classics is proud to offer this ultra-rare 1 of 213 GS400 Convertibles with 4-speed. Not a lot of people know about the GS400. While the GM counterparts all offered special packages and engine options, there were no special editions of the GS400. They were built to be muscle cars. In fact, the GS 400 standard features included functional twin snorkel hood scoops, dual exhaust, 2.93 standard gear ratio and a four barrel Rochester Quadrajet carburetor The 400 CID engine was considered underrated at 340 hp (more likely around 375) with 440 foot pounds of torque. This car is also equipped with the 4 speed Muncie and Hurst shifter.
We found this awesome GS400 not far from home in a garage where it had been stored for almost 2 decades. Its going to need some work on the quarters but is otherwise in really nice shape inside and out. It is an all original numbers matching car. The engine does not turn and we have not tried to break it loose. We were told it ran when it was parked but assume the engine is going to need a rebuild.
The second owner of the GS400 kept all the receipts from the time it was purchased in 1972. The folder is pictured and extensive. The car was not originally 2 tone. The color was added by the second owner.
