Another spectacular project completed by Smittys Classics. We purchased this car as part of an Estate State and to our knowledge, it hasn’t seen day light in several years. We were impressed that for an older restoration the body lines and panel fitment were very nice, the car didn’t have any leaks, it ran and drove, and the custom diamond tuck upholstery was still in very good shape for its age. We took this car in for a cosmetic restoration. Once the Camaro got to our shop, our skilled mechanics went through the brake system and replace all the wheel cylinder, brakes hoses, brake shoes and master cylinder. We also replaced the upper and lower A-frame bushing, inner and outer tie rods, upper and lower ball joints, Coil springs, idler arm, sway bar bushings and new shocks on all four corners. The car is rolling on a brand-new set of American Racing Torque Thrust 2 wheels surrounded by a new set of 225/60/15 tires to give it a modern muscle car look.
Once we got the mechanical and safety taken care of, it was time for a face lift. We replaced; driver side rocker panel, center trunk floor pan, new gas tank and sending unit. Once the dirty work was done it was time to lay down the new paint, custom Z style stripes, new carpet, dash pad, and front and rear door panels. The old and dried out weather seals were replaced with new trunk, door and window opening weather seals.
